ABOUT THE CENTRE FOR HEALTH PROMOTION

The Centre for Health Promotion (Department of Public Health Sciences, University of Toronto), established in 1989, is a community-academic partnership. The Centre is committed to excellence in education, evaluation and research. In a multi-disciplinary, collaborative context it activates, develops and evaluates innovative health promotion approaches in Canada and abroad. The Centre is an active, high quality, internationally recognized leader in health promotion.

What We Offer

  • The Health Communication Unit (TCHU) is a provincial resource centre funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care, that provides training and support in health communication.
  • The International Health Promotion Unit (IHPU) coordinates our many international health promotion projects. The Centre for Health Promotion has been a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre in Health Promotion since 1996.
  • The National Projects Unit, working nationally, offers strategic public policy and program evaluation services, notably but not exclusively in the field of health and health promotion.
  • The Ontario Health Promotion Summer School is offered annually and celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2008.
  • Each year, the Healthy U of T Awards are presented to an individual and a group within the University of Toronto that has contributed to the overall health and well-being of the campus community. NOMINATIONS FOR THE 2008 AWARDS ARE NOW OPEN!
  • Youth Engagement Unit works locally/internationally with a network of organizations to involve and engage young people from diverse backgrounds in health promotion using interactive technology and media arts.
  • The Centre for Health Promotion is also involved in a number of special projects, such as Best Practices initiatives. We host special interest groups and committees that focus on specific areas of health promotion, such as Healthy Schools and Cancer Prevention.

  • The Centre is supported in its mission by an Advisory Board comprised of representatives from the academic, community and governmental sectors.

We are a healthy vending company, providing all natural and organic snacks and beverages to schools, hospitals, and workplaces. We are currently looking for distributors to operate in areas all over the US and Canada.
